[SpanishTranslation] [French Translation] There will always be a group of people who will like you and some others who won’t. And many times someone’s effectiveness causes people to bad mouth them. In fact, most of the times the things they say may not be true and contorted to some extent. And many a times, people are quick to judge someone without even verifying the facts. And for some others, hearing something from someone ‘they like’ is itself seems like the truth etched in stone.

There is nothing fair about gossip. People choosing to believe something ugly without knowing the facts or truth can never be fair. Majority of times, people will not even ask the person involved if the gossip is true. That’s why dirty gossip news spreads faster because it is an ugly secret.

Good News!

But on the bright side, You Are Talked About. No one would not talk about you if you did not matter.

What Next?

Now then, if you are going to try and justify or respond to gossip then you are wasting your energy that you could use for something more useful. You need to know whether confronting the lies will make them go away or cause you to waste time clearing accusations or justifying your actions.

But be sure not to waste your time with loose tongues. One day they will be talking about you, another day somebody else. Gossip has the power to trouble your mind further and blur your focus of your future by sowing mistrust and fear. Talk it out in the love of Christ only if it is someone you know and have a relationship with.

Take It Further

Surely you should learn from past mistakes, if any and continue moving on doing what God has called you to do. Those who have to talk will continue to talk and will continue their genre of advertisement for you.  When you know who you are and  what you do, move on. The gossipers will eventually get bored. And you can be happy that you did not waste your time fighting about what was not true.

Guard Your Heart

Sometimes the best way to respond is not to respond. Gossips spread faster because it is toxic. But don’t let that toxic get into your heart. A bitter heart cannot function right. Stay away from toxic news carriers too. And why should you, out of everyone else in the world, be the bad news carrier? Don’t be that gossip girl. May you be the good news carrier. Or then you be filled with hatred without reason.

Start with yourself. “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt…” Colossians 4:6 Continue loving everyone and pursue God’s will in your life. Just know what you do and why you do it. Focus your time and energy on that.

The End of It All

Remember that those that accused of Paul to be a murderer changed their mind and said he was God?(Acts 28:6) Yes, it did take a long while but it is worth the wait! Live on and live strong and if you give it long those gossips will die a natural death. And as Romans 8: 28 still continues to be in the Word of God, all things will work together for good, yes, even those ugly gossips.

Tell me, have you experienced ugly gossip? What have you learnt about handling it?
