No More Boring Announcements in Church

Last month, I was preaching at Metro Tabernacle and the senior Pastor. Ong announced up next were the announcements. I was prepared to go through the announcing of the normal list of events. You know one person with the mic reading out from a piece of paper? No disrespect but it’s just what I am used to. Announcements clearly meant 5 minutes of break or boredom!

The Pastor lowered his microphone and the video began playing on large screens and I was drawn right into it till the last second, watching every bit of the announcements with awesome graphics and creative video editing.

How much of this is going to be used in churches in India is still a question. But I believe it’s only a matter of time. It is important that we try and do everything in a way that is more effective!

Remember, all creative things began in heaven and shouldn’t the world be learning from us? It is not good that church should take it easy and lag behind.

Here’s how they do it at the Hillsong Church. Obviously many of the churches may be under-resourced for this kind of technology but it is always good to learn the process and then improvise on what we already have.
