Devotion Unto Death

Devotion Unto Death

Shyju Mathew

"Experience the Word of God, in the power of the Spirit."

October 12, 2011

With the pollutions of this world, distractions by technology and adulteration of heart, we live lives not being able to hear from God. Because hearing from God requires active participation from man.

Consider the angel who was already empowering Elijah with bread asked him to climb up the mountain before he heard from God.

Moses had to withdraw to the tent of meeting which was pitched intentionally far away from the camp.

Jesus repeatedly waited till crowds left and disciples slept, before He withdrew early in the morning – while it was still dark – to seek the Lord.

Practically speaking, it is still possible to hear from God on this earth in this time, provided that we learn to filter the distractions of the world. Continual pursuit of God’s will must go together with continual pursuing God in prayer. The more you hear from God; the more we must surrender to His will.

The Devotion:

One of the greatest secrets of the disciples was that they were devoted to seeking God. Devotion means: (devote something to) give all or a large part of one’s time or resources to (a person, activity, or cause). Not just an hour, but days together; they just came together, sang songs, worshipped, listened to the teachings of the apostles and prayed. Acts 2:42.

Pursue the Lord Jesus till every emotion, feeling, thought, word and action in you is sanctified by the blood of Jesus! And let it be so unto death that there is nothing of you left and it is all of Jesus through you.

Remember, the Scripture says, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7

In that discipline of seeking God’s will through the Word of God and seeking God’s hand in prayer every day and throughout the day, we will then begin to hear His voice clearer and clearer.

Let there not be a day that passes by without having to wait in His presence to synchronize your heart with His heart. God will then honour your pursuit of His will by speaking loud and clear to you. Have you then spent your time with the Lord today?

Don’t wait. Let go of everything and seek Him! For this is His will and He is drawing you now!

God bless.

What keeps you from hearing His voice? What do you do to stay connected to the Father?
