My Most Unforgettable Moment With My 5 Month Old Kathryn

When I look at our daughter, Kathryn, I am amazed and I marvel at how God has created us. I notice how her personality develops each day. I’ve been observing her to see how seamlessly she seems to pick up little habits.

Kathryn is now 7 months old and is growing so beautifully. However when she was 5 months old, she seemed to be quite mischievous. Yes, I know a 5 month old baby and mischievous? True story.

She liked to get a room to come to a standstill with a loud piercing cry and then look around to enjoy everyone’s undivided attention.

Kathryn is generous with her smiles. She’ll smile till you are tired of smiling back. If you act well as a clown then probably she’ll crack up into her beautiful soft and heart-melting giggles and an even wider smile, while simultaneously pulling her hands to her face as if she’s shy.

Then this is what happened one day:

Being so used to going to her and picking her up, there was this moment when for the first time our little Kathryn stretched her tiny little hands towards me. I’ve seen children do that before but this was the first time that my little Kathryn had done that.

Her little hands quivered a bit but she held it long enough to let her dad know what she wanted.

I jumped out of my chair and lunged forward to pull her up.

That moment left a deep impact on my heart of how God would stretch out to pull us up each time when we are in need.

My friends, whatever your mess, it does not matter. How deep your crisis is not an issue. The moment you stretch your hands out to God, He leaps forward to hold you in His everlasting arms.

He may not have given you what you want. And He may have withheld it when you thought wanted it the most but this you can be sure of; His love for you is unconditional and everlasting.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: If I as a limited, fragile human can love my daughter so much then there is no comparison to how much a perfect, sovereign, loving Father God loves us.

Today if you tear drops, I am sure it doesn’t fall to the ground but He holds them in His palm. He’s right there with you holding you to His heart. And even right now He seems to be saying, “Stay strong, my sweet child”.

If there’s something you are going through, don’t lose hope. Don’t forget today that your God is stronger, wiser, perfect and beyond compare to little Kathryn’s dad.

Enjoy this music video for a few minutes while you enjoy God’s warmth for you:

Water You turned into wine
Open the eyes of the blind
There’s no one like You
None like You
Into the darkness You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There’s no one like You
None like You

CHORUS
Our God is greater, our God is stronger
God, You are higher than any other
Our God is Healer, awesome in power
Our God, Our God

BRIDGE
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?
What can stand against?

Jesus loves you.
