Have You Taken That Small Bite?

Here’s a quick reminder.

For Adam and Eve, sin preceded the shame. It opened the gates of guilt, separating them from God. Slander slipped off their tongues with ease. Unfavourable consequences followed. Access to Paradise was lost. Eve bore children in pain. Sweat and toil for food. Dispute among children. Generations of corrupted blood.

All the result of that one bite of disobedience.

When we take that one seemingly insignificant small bite into sin, we tend to forget that it opens endless windows giving the enemy the opportunity to jump right into our lives.

Don’t take it lightly when you open the wretched package of sin. What you are really doing is opening a can of worms that can crawl and creep their way into many other areas of your life.

Sin’s tentacles have a way of reaching into your emotions, bringing up corrupted memories, shaking your confidence in God. It also instills fear of the future and leaves you stripped of your authority in Christ.

In Galatians 5, we read 24 “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”

To walk daily with God, we then have to die daily to our desires of the flesh. Jesus, the absolute man did it and we can do it to, through the help of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s go!

Have you struggled with that small bite of temptation? What has been your motivation to walk with God?
