Dear believer, today’s post from Pastor Lolo Holonou is a continuation of Part 1 – The Mustard Seed Faith – Mountain Moving Faith. We’ll be discussing the dynamics of Faith and how to develop the God kind of faith.

Mark 11:12-14
Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry. And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it.

The Nature of Faith Transcends Logic and Reasoning

It stands to reason that no one would expect of a fig tree that it should bear fruit in a season that is not its own. We reasonably understand that no fig tree bears fruit outside of season. Nevertheless, Jesus still pronounced the curse on it and his words prevailed.

What’s the point? Faith does not obey the rules of nature and reasoning. It is not reasonable, it’s radical.

Mark 11:20-24
“Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter, remembering, said to Him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away.” So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”

In other words, what just happened is simply the result of Faith. Jesus was saying “Here is the key I used – Faith! And if you would use the same key you would obtain the same result as I did. “

In the next verse, he describes how that kind of Faith works.

The Character of Faith

For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Faith rises from the heart and is released through spoken words of the mouth. You shall have what you say, for life and death are in the power of the tongue. If you only have Faith in your heart, but don’t learn how to confess with your mouth what you believe in your heart, then you’re like a hungry man who has money in the pocket but won’t pull it out to buy food.

Faith is always sure and confident of what it believes. It never doubts.

Faith always maintains a good report. It’s not the report of the doctor that matters, it’s not the report of your circumstances that matters, but it’s the report of the Lord that matters for the final word belongs to the Lord. His report says, “I am free, Ii am healed, I am blessed, I am highly favored, I am rich, I am an overcomer, I am loved, I am more than a conqueror and He is a good, good Father to me.”

Power Side of Faith

Heb11:1-3 says:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

Faith is an invisible force that materializes in the natural realm things of the unseen realm. It gives substance, shape and form to the things we have hope for. It brings to existence the things that are not. And it’s actually an emulation of the character of God because the Bible says that He calls the things that are not as though they were.

The secret of the things we see are in the things we don’t see! The holy precious Word of God says “My Righteous One shall walk by Faith and not by Sight”

Faith is the power that causes natural laws to bend and make an exemption for us [tweet this]

It was by Faith that Jesus walked on the waters approaching His disciples’ boat n it was by Faith that Peter started to walk on the water. It was by faith that Joshua suspended the rotation of the sun and the sun stood still till he had annihilated his enemies. It was by faith that Moses lifted up his rod and stretched out his hand to divide the waters of the Red Sea.

And it is by Faith that we will prevail over all forms of adverse situations we might be facing today.

Faith revolves around 2 persons: God and His Word. It is Trust in God’s power and God’s power is in His Word. It comes by hearing, and hearing from the Word of God. (Rom 10:17)

Three keys for developing the God Kind of Faith

Key 1: Careful and prayerful personal study (meditation in God’s Word)

It’s by meditation that the Word of God sinks deep in our hearts. It’s the Word of God that builds up Faith in our hearts.

Key 2: Abide in the Word of God (Obedience).

Walking in the light of the Commandments of Christ brings us to a place of confidence and boldness where we can face difficult situations.

Those two keys are really powerful as Jesus said “If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask me for anything and I will do it! “

Key 3: Fasting & Prayer

Fasting & Prayer has a strong effect on our ability to release our Faith.

Matthew 17:21

“But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Here is the key: Fasting humbles your soul, it weakens the flesh and strengthens the inner man. It thus increases our sensitivity to the spiritual realm and helps us synchronize our spiritual eyes with God’s eyes so that we can come in agreement with His perfect will and exercise dominion on earth.

In Matthew 17:20 Jesus said to his disciples, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”

Why mustard seed?

The mustard seed is not just the smallest of all seeds but it’s the only seed that must remain and stay absolutely, completely pure in order to reproduce.

What Jesus meant is this: if we would have pure Faith, faith that is not mixed with any trace of fear or doubt or unbelief, nothing shall be impossible to us! And Fasting & Prayer helps us get there, by purifying our faith.

When our spirit man begins to lead, that’s when we can have Faith like God [tweet this].

This is the Mustard Seed Faith, the kind of faith that prevails in all circumstances.

Let this be your prayer today: Jesus, I declare my faith in you! Though it is only the size of a small mustard seed I will hang on to it with tenacity. Shelter my faith and prove it genuine in my life. I lift up my heart to you and I choose to greatly rejoice in all circumstances in the precious name of Jesus!
