Want to Give up? Read This First

"Experience the Word of God, in the power of the Spirit."

December 3, 2009

I am not a therapist or a health professional. What pushes me to write this is that I am simply someone who has seen many people, who wanted to give it all up, set free by the power of Jesus. Often people end up with this decision because they are not able to cope up with things in life because something inside them feels it’s best to quit than to face that situation itself.

I don’t know what has led you to feel what you feel but I want you to know this that just because it did not work for you, does not mean it’s over. Don’t give up on your life because someone walked away from you or disappointed you. There is so much to life beyond your box of experience. The reason because you feel you cannot breathe in your life is because you are shut in your situation.

Expose Yourself to More

Your life is more than just that one incident that has disappointed you. Just because some incident has repeated itself in your life does not mean you have to give up. Maybe you should just stop being around things that trigger situation that hold you bound. You have all kinds of options. You haven’t seen life yet. How could you think of dying before you even live? Expose yourself beyond your element of pain.

Hope in Jesus

Pain has no prejudice. It comes everywhere. You are not alone; the truth is that the rich and the poor feel pain. But the good news is that God wants to empower you to live your life. I want you to know that Jesus came for you and died in your place so that you can have life in abundance.  In John 10: 10b Jesus says, ‘I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

I was shocked, the other day in one of the meetings, as the Lord spoke to me about a young girl who has suicidal tendencies. What shocked me further was that when the girl came up for prayer, she was only 14 years old. She didn’t even know why she felt that way. My friend, you must understand the truth that this suicidal tendency is not from God or even from yourself. Because Jesus says, in John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

You Have a Helper

When Jesus left the earth, He promised His disciples a helper. His name is Holy Spirit. When you have Jesus in your heart, you also have Holy Spirit who is interceding for you and is there for you 24/7. You need to open your heart for Him to take control over your life. Here is an amazing verse written for you: “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.’ Rom 8: 26

Now accept this simple truth with this prayer from your heart. “Dear Jesus, I believe you died on the cross for me in my place. Thank you for the life in abundance that you give me through my faith in you. I resist this thought and the spirit of suicide. I command you to leave me in the name of Jesus. Dear Holy Spirit, I invite You to take over me. Thank you for your help and peace. In Jesus name, Amen”

I believe that this message from my heart has given you some relief but the best way to cope this is to talk to a person that you think will understand you. I would suggest you find a elder, leader or a Pastor whom you’ve known. Tell them how you feel and tell them how you got to this point. Spend time reading the word of God; it will give you the strength to face life.
