[French Translation] [Spanish Translation] While bidding adieu to my dear mentor who was migrating to the U.S., I was given the opportunity to hear him share how God has blessed the work of his hands, resulting in an abundant turnover in his now booming business.
He said, “Shyju, to date, I have never set a monthly or annual target. I have just obeyed what God told me to do; invested in what God led me to; and let God do what He wanted to do. I simply watched Him put things together that I could have never imagined.”
I don’t know about you but that reminds me of Abraham’s walk of faith. Blessings from God were a direct result of his obedience to God’s will. Do not separate faith from your work life. Your boss is not your God.
Trust, allow and wait on Him to lead, show and direct your path. You will be amazed at how He can cause you to rise without having to struggle or work overtime for it.
We live in a misrepresented world where sadly, jobs define the value of a personality and the security of their future. People today are misled to believe that if they have a bigger home or a bigger car, they might be happier or more successful.
People who believe that their success is directly proportionate to the salary that they make will always be driven to do more to earn more. And eventually that will take away their joy, contentment and gratitude towards God for what He has already done in their life.
You need to ask yourself: “Is my job that takes away most of my time that really belongs to God and my family really worth a promotion?”
There is no reason in the world that can justify your lack of prayer or the study of His Word. Don’t allow busyness to take you away from the joy of the life that God has blessed you with. Don’t compromise on spending time with your spouse and your children.
Continue to fear God, pursue righteousness and honour God above everything else in your life. Resist the temptation of trusting yourself over being wholly dependent on God. That is then, less of you and all of Him.
So now go on; trust God and watch Him multiply His blessings on you in the appointed time.
