Hey Reader, it’s time to weaken demons in your house! Enjoy these critical secrets on fasting!
Overturning the Enemy’s Plans: Fasting Secrets
In the days of Queen Esther, all Jews were decreed to be destroyed by a planned genocide, engineered by Haman the Amelekite, a longtime generational enemy to the Jews.
Mordecai, her uncle, challenged Esther to intervene in this critical time, saying, “For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:12)
With courage, Queen Esther prepared to seek the king, but first, she was determined to seek God. Boldly, she requested all Jews to fast on her behalf:
“Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.” (Esther 4:16)
By the Spirit, this queen knew if she found favour with God, she would find favour with the king, and if favour was found, all her people under her covering would be spared. This young Jewish woman understood: there is a certain kind of fasting that can change the outcome of written law. Though the law of the land was physical in nature, Esther incited her people to urgent fasting and prayer, believing by faith that a greater governance would overrule. With spiritual action, spiritual law overturned the physical laws of the land.
Is it still possible to overwhelm the natural with the spiritual? Look at what Jesus did.
Jesus Fasted Forty Days in the Wilderness
Jesus, the Son of God, sent by the will of the Father to humanity, fasted and prayed for forty days.
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (Mathew 4:1-2)
Why would Jesus choose to fast and pray in the wilderness for a face off with Satan?
Jesus had understanding that for success in His ministry, He had to first fast and pray and overcome the devil.
With prayer, consecration and surrender came much power.
As Jesus gave Himself to the Voice of God every day, the devil was defeated. Not one temptation took Jesus down!

Why was Jesus Tested in the Wilderness?
Wedged between Egypt and Canaan, the Israelites endured the wilderness for forty years. Satan, determined to intercept their destiny to the Promise land, tempted the people. He incited their natural desires, baited the people with thirst traps, waged battles both within the camp and without, until fear, lust, idolatry and confusion remained. The Bible records how the Israelites failed every test given to them.
Back then, like today, hunger was a huge temptation in the desert. Deprived of their Egyptian menu, the people grumbled for meat, watermelons, even for onions and garlic, craving variety from their daily manna, the Bread of angels (Ps. 78:25). They rebelled, murmured, fought, indulged and complained. As their flesh prevailed, the people perished in the desert (Deut 2:14).
All desires of the flesh, whether to eat or drink, to be affirmed, to be loved, to be touched, all must be surrendered, lest our flesh rule our decisions, and we will succumb like the Israelites.
When the natural flesh is subdued, the spirit awakens. Power is the result of a spirit man that has grown. When Jesus entered the wilderness by command of the Spirit, He fasted His flesh and overcame every battle the Israelites had lost.
Fasting is not about how much we starve our flesh; it is about how much we feed our spirit. As we feed on God’s Word, our spirit grows, and as our stature starts growing, we begin to operate with the power of God. We weaken demons that are fighting us and our household!
Likewises, when Queen Esther called the fast, she engaged a showdown between the natural and supernatural. Her spiritual power was so mighty that a king of nations bowed down to her God and the conquered Jews became the conquerors! (see Esther 8)

The Dust Diet: It all Began in the Garden
Why did Jesus, perfect Man, Son of God, have to fast?
In his submission to the Father, Jesus wore the cloak of the flesh.
Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil. (Heb. 2:14)
In the Garden, when God created Adam, He formed him from the dust.
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (Gen. 2:7)
When Adam and Eve were decieved and sinned, God cursed the serpent: “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. (Gen 3:14)
For all his days, Satan now eats the dust of the earth. From that day in the garden, our flesh of the earth became his food.
Each time we feed on the nature of satan, with rebellion, lust, gluttony, any pleasure we delight in outside of God, we become satan’s food. Pleasures outside of God are the food of the enemy. Everytime we take what is not given, or give into jealousy or anger and feed our cravings, demons are eating our flesh. They become stronger and we become weaker in the spiritual realm.
Don’t let demons get fat on you!

No Claims
Throughout His life, Jesus did not give Satan anything to feed on. The Lord told his disciples, …the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me (John 14:30).
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him (Col. 2:9-10)
Beloved, Christ lives in you! We are complete in Him! So when the enemy starts to provoke you, give him no claim. Like Jesus, say, “Satan, be gone!” (Matt. 4:10)
Like Esther, we are called to rule with spiritual power and do what is needful for victory for ourselves and our household!
In this Year of the Sceptre of Power, may we grow in stature and in power, in for God’s great glory!
