He Never Left You

Life, as a Christian, might have many ups and downs. In my life, as I got to know the Lord closer, I succeeded in many endeavors that I undertook. As I grew older – mentally, physically and spiritually, the grace of the Lord has astounded me. It is just awesome what God can do if one is willing to give in to his plans.

Yet once, there came a time in my life, when I faced defeat. Then one after another trials came my way.

If it was a matter of hours, days or weeks, it is understandable. But when you are faced with defeat from all angles and for maybe a longer period than you expect, you sometimes end up asking this question. “Has the Lord given up on me?” “Has the Lord that I had known left me? “

Trials CANNOT be PREVENTED by your holiness, righteousness, the number of hours you read your Bible or the number of hours you spend on your knees. As you spend more time with Him, you will only be more equipped to handle what’s coming your way. However, you cannot stop them.

There is not a single Christian in this world who can claim that they did not face any trials because they were holy and righteous.

In fact the Bible states: “In this world, you WILL have trouble. BUT TAKE HEART! I have overcome the world.”

As I re-read the famous verse from Hebrews 13:5: “I will never leave you nor forsake you”, the Lord opened my eyes.

In our daily life we use many conditional statements such as: If you work very hard, you can get that promotion. Or if you study a lot you will get high ranks, etc. These are conditional statements.

In a world where conditional statements like above play a major role, an unconditional statement might not make an impression on us. We assume that if we were good, God will bless us and vice- versa.

The truth is that when God said He would never leave nor forsake us. He meant it literally! It did not make a difference as to whether we were praying 10 hours or 1 hour, reading 6 chapters or 1 chapter. There is nothing you can do to change the fact that the God is with you! Isn’t that great news? So let us thank him for His unconditional love and revel in it.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy one of Israel, your Savior.

The Lord your God is with you and He will be with you till the end! May the Lord bless you!
