Growth Investment: Kingdom Style
Growth investment is a strategy to secure young or small companies whose earnings are expected to increase at an above-average rate. Sounds like Kingdom! Let’s do a quick check of our current growth index:
- Is growth evident or are we struggling to rise?
- Do we know investment returns are 100% a kingdom reality?
- Is our growth trajectory upward or backward?
- Are we living Heaven’s will on earth?
Before you run and hide, stop. Our God is a loving Father! The Father accepts us as we are, in all our mess and distress. We just can’t remain in a state of apathy or disarray.
Who would remain a slave when they have been adopted into royalty, especially at the cost of the King’s only Son? Where is growth investment returned here? This is our truth: we must change, grow and become His Beloveds (Eph. 6:1).
In the Kingdom, as we access the grace of transformation we reap multiplication, for the Lord’s Presence will always produce! When we surrender to God’s principles, and intentionally lay aside the dusty grave clothes of our life before Christ, from crusty attitudes to musty mindsets, we find abundant life in Christ and growth is certain. (See a cool short film about change here).
Where do we start? Always, Jesus
Since Heaven produces after its kind, “Let us make man in our own image”(Gen. 1:26), our growth as sons of God begins when we pursue our Father through Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except through Me”(John14:6), so only through the Lord Jesus can our journey of heaven on earth truly begin.
Isaiah wrote, “Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near.”(55:6) and “Incline your ear, and come unto me: Hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David”(55:3).
While we still have time, let’s work hard to invest our lives for our Lord, so here are 3 strategies for growth straight from our Father’s heart,
1. Incline: A Physical Shift is Required
When the Lord is speaking, are we leaning in, at the edge of our seat, to drink in His every Word, or are we slumped on a couch reaching for the next fizzy drink, waiting to be entertained?
To incline means to come closer, to be alert, to get ready and to be excited to hear! Physically our posture must change! Whether we drive to our church, run to the altar or fall to our knees, physically, our posture must change before the Presence of the Lord.
As we incline, we lean into our God. From that place of intimacy, His answers become our answers. Like a tender potter, His perspective will shape our understanding. His principles will start to define our lifestyle. Transformation begins by leaning in!
2. Come Close: A Heart Change is Essential
Leaning in is one step forward. The next step is to come close.
Jesus said, “No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.(Mathew 11:27-29)
“Come unto Me”, Jesus says to you and I, “I will give you rest, Here, you will know the Father. Learn from Me. Find rest for your souls.
in the same way, the Father urges. “Come unto me; Hear and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”
Yes, that David, the priestly king who had arranged the death of his friend because of lust for his wife! Though David fell hard, note how, when Prophet Nathan came with the Word, David immediately responded to his correction! Despite being king, David exposed his sinful ways and gained forgiveness. “I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.” (Psalm 32:5)
With God our Father, our heart posture is essential. When our hearts surrender to His light, the Holy Spirit will convict us of every sin, each fear or offence we carry, hat we may repent and then, be free to draw even closer to our awesome God.
Day and night, our pursuit must never stop. (To hear a powerful sermon on pursuit, click here.)
3. Hear His Voice: Spiritual Change for Kingdom Results
Once we have physically journeyed to our location of encounter and laid out our hearts before God, now, we are ready to hear. As we lean in with our spirits, emboldened with deep longing for His Voice, the Lord speaks.
Rarely, we will hear God’s Voice like an overhead speaker, rather, His gentle whisper touches our conscience. Spirit to spirit, God shifts us to radical transformation from slave to son. Suddenly, the Word answers a prayer in need, leaps from the page of the Bible in our daily time. His Voice cuts through the darkness by an anointed Man or Woman of God sent for our deliverance. A song of revelation arrives in the day or a prayer arise in the night. His Voice descends on our altars, breaks through our fasts, sings over our worship. The skies clear and a breeze kisses the brow after a long storm. There are endless ways the Father speaks to His children.
As we hear, our soul shall live, this incredible everlasting covenant with the Living God is ours, and we live in the sure mercies of David!

May fear of God and trust in His Goodness cause us to come close every day! May we celebrate our Father’s Presence as our everything! The longer we dwell and reign in His Kingdom, the greater our transformation, and the more precious our investment for the Father! Today, may we incline, come close and hear His Voice! May we live to love our Jesus and may our growth investment bring God glory!
