When you read about Elijah, perhaps, like me, you are in awe of his exploits, and long to manifest the spirit of Elijah in these days. Yet when you read about Jezebel, are you surprised she could intimidate this mighty prophet? You know her legacy, how this evil queen chased Elijah away from his destiny (1 Kings 19)? Though Jehu, by the Word of the Lord, finished her (2 Kings 9), her spirit remained on the earth.
The Trial of John the Baptist
In the New Testament, this same spirit jumped on Queen Herodias. When John the Baptist preached against her adultery, she persuaded Herod to imprison John the Baptist (Mathew 14:3), who likewise, had come in the spirit of Elijah (Luke 1:17). Despite Herod’s resistance, this wicked queen triumphed with John’s head served to her on a platter (Mathew 6:17-29).
What do these stories have to do with us these days?
1 John 2:18 states Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
The spirit of Jezebel continues to attack the Church today.
The Triumph of Elisha
Now consider Elisha, the tenacious spiritual son of prophet Elijah; he was not afraid of Jezebel nor her seed.
When Omri, Ahab’s son, threatened to take Elisha’s life, this prophet calmly told the elders, “See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? Look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?” (2 Kings 6:32).
Why didn’t Elisha fear this spirit? What did he have that Elijah did not have?
Elisha had a spiritual father!
For sure, Daddy Elijah, would have pulled his son, Elisha aside and instructed him, “Son, do not do what I did when Jezebel came my way. Son, hear me: DO NOT RUN from this Spirit! The LORD GOD ALMIGHTY is with you!”
Elisha, the righteous son, could not possibly fear Jezebel. He was backed up by the word of instruction by his father, Elijah!
These are the Days of Elijah
Dear saint, the Lord is coming soon. May the Lord give you grace to discover your God-given covering, that you may follow life-giving instructions!
Our protection is found in submission to those spiritual fathers and mothers whom have been sent by God’s mercy to equip our generation.
Warriors arise!
We have the grace and power to conquer every spirit that fights the Church today!
