Becoming God’s Undercover Agent

"Experience the Word of God, in the power of the Spirit."

Being a spy for God is completely different from the gadget-sporting, tuxedo wearing, gun-wielding James Bond type that we are so familiar with. A spy simply means a person who secretly collects and reports information about the activities, movements, and plans of an enemy. He/she is generally working for a government or an organization.

When it comes to God, the reality is that there is no bit of information that you can bring to Him that He does not already know. Yet, one step before the Hebrews could enter to their promised land, God asked them to send out a group of people to spy the land.

The question then arises that if God already knew, why did He still want people to spy the land?
The answer to that lies in this scripture that we have heard so many times. Proverbs 29:18 tells us that where there is no vision, people perish.

To be able to create the right and effective strategy, you need to explore rightly to know and understand what your options are. You cannot go where you cannot see. Without vision we are lost and we will not be able to reach anywhere.

I have been to some brilliant churches who are very passionate for God and yet year after year, they have done nothing and gone nowhere in God. They simply had no vision.

Do you have a vision for life? Do you have a direction for your church? Do you have a goal for your marriage? Do you have a burden for your nation?

It all lies in your ground work of spying. This applies to church planting, ministries, media, marriage and life itself. I would like to share with you a few points that you should take before stepping out to see the God-given vision fulfilled.

1. Know the Geography.

If you are aware of the boundaries of what God wants you to conquer, then you will know what God wants to give you. If you do not know the limits then you are in danger of straying into areas that will deplete you of your resources, energy, time and money.

2. Count your Giants.

Yes, my friend; count your problems and go to God with them. If you do not know whom you are against, you might be fighting against a glass wall. The measure of your problem is the measure of God’s glory that will be revealed.

3. Hear from God.

In this generation of independent yet hungry people, God is still looking for a people that are fully dependent on Him. Yes; those that will go to Him for everything. They believe in the hand of the Lord than trusting in chariots or men. And from that place of dependency, God’s guidance is made known, bringing divine success.

4. Be persistent.

Did you know that decades passed between moments that God spoke to Abraham? Yet, even after all that time, Abraham simply held on to His promise of a son. That faith was counted as righteousness to him.

God wants you to simply hold on to that promise for your life and ministry and go on until you see the results. Work hard and strategically. God will then bless the work of your hands.

Plan of Action

God loves a man who is serious about Him. Now if you really mean business, get your paper, laptop, iPad or that paper napkin out. Jot down every bit of information about the land that God is giving into your hands. Now, act on His command and as He commands. If you are serious about God, God will take you seriously too.

I’d like to know- what does your Promised Land look like as of now? What are the necessary steps that you are taking? Do add to the points mentioned here.
