Two Anointed Principles from a Warrior

"Experience the Word of God, in the power of the Spirit."

Last week I taught the church from 2 Kings 9: 1-3. The Bible tells us about a powerful story of prophet Elisha and Jehu:

Then Elisha the prophet called one of the sons of the prophets and said to him, “Tie up your garments, and take this flask of oil in your hand, and go to Ramoth-gilead. And when you arrive, look there for Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshi. And go in and have him rise from among his fellows, and lead him to an inner chamber. Then take the flask of oil and pour it on his head and say, ‘Thus says the Lord, I anoint you king over Israel.’ Then open the door and flee; do not linger.

Jehu was known as the ‘mad man’ who couldn’t be stopped. God used him in areas where others did not succeed.  He was later on the reason to destroy the evil queen Jezebel. Here are few lesson’s we can learn from the moment of God’s anointing on the life of Jehu.

Principle 1- Get out of your comfort zone!

In this passage of scripture, Elisha is instructing one of his servants to go and anoint Jehu as king over Israel. Elisha tells him to go and find Jehu, and to ‘go in and make him rise up from among his associates, and take him to an inner room’ (verse 2). Notice specifically before God anointed him, Jehu was instructed to rise from among his fellows. The first step to walking into our destiny is to rise up from what we have become accustomed to.

God wants to show His Glory to this generation, but first we have to wake up, raise up from slow obedience, and disconnect ourselves from our worldly distractions.

Ask yourself this question: What distractions in your life prevent you from drawing closer to God’s presence?

Principle 2 – Get into the chamber of God

When we rise up from familiarity and lukewarmness, then we have an open invitation to walk into the inner chamber of God. The inner chamber represents the place where not all people dwell in. That place is the heart of God.

God waited till Jehu entered that inner chamber before the prophet anointed him.

There in the heart of God, we will see the rest of the world differently and there we will see as God sees.

It is also in this place that we will see His power and glory like never before. For the kingdom of God to manifest through our lives like never before we must rise and go into the inner chambers of prayer and fasting.

Who can walk into the inner chamber of God?

In the Old Testament only the high priest was allowed to enter the inner chamber of God’s presence, and “… only once a year, and never without blood…’ [Hebrews 9:7]

The New Testament tells us that those who are in Christ have the unprecedented privilege to “… boldly enter into God’s presence, the inner sanctuary, where Jesus has already entered on our behalf.’ [Hebrews 6:19-20] The inner chamber door is unlocked for all those who love Jesus!

The Lord wants you to have access to His heart.  When you have access to the inner chamber of God He will pour on you a new anointing. He will call you with a new name! Revelation 2:17, Isa 62:2

Seek God now!

First step for the rain to fall is that the water must ascend up as vapour into the air! Alike, for God’s anointing to come down, our prayers and worship must go up first. Keep your spiritual lamps filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit. Keep your heart overflowing with His love. Then the anointing will be poured out upon you, your church, your city, your nation. As it is written: “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”  [1 Corinthians 2:9]

Trust in God’s Promise no matter how many trials you face or how long is the delay. Let the worship to God keep rising. Push until you go into the inner chamber and the King of Kings anoints you with oil. I look forward to with great expectation to hear that you have walked into what God has for you!
