Greetings, GTH Friends! We hope you are enjoying this power-packed series, ROOTED, which is the guiding Word for 2021 at Revive Nations. To access the beginning of the series, Parts 1, 2 and 3 can be found here. In Part 4, we consider how THIRST is critical in our pursuit of God. Enjoy this powerful teaching by Prophet Shyju Mathew, Founder of Revive Nations.
Here is a BIG question: How thirsty are you? Thirsty enough for a full glass of water? How about a gallon? A well-full? How about a River?
In Isaiah 44:3, the Lord promises:
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
Every believer is the life product of their thirst for God.
When we meet a believer, we meet their level of thirst for God. Our thirst for understanding defines our victories. Our victories are the end result of our thirst!
How much we thirst for understanding will decide if water is poured on the ground or if we’re going to receive a flood! Our thirst for God will release the rivers of life to flow from our belly. Or, are we simply waiting for someone greater to come along and pour us a glass of water to satisfy our current need?
How thirsty are you?
Are you thirsty enough to ask and keep asking until you find the treasures which God is eagerly waiting for you to find? When you find Him, will you still thirst for more?
In Luke 24, two disciples journeyed along the road to Emmaus from Jerusalem. The Bible records, “they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. But their eyes were kept from recognizing him” (vs 14-16).
Think about this: Two believers enjoyed Jesus for hours, as He explained the Scriptures on the very day of his Resurrection. Yet sadly, they did not recognize Him. Can you imagine if they had paused to humbly ask, “Sir, how do You know this? What is the source of this river? Who are You?” What might have been the outcome of that encounter if they had inquired a little more?
Proverbs 25:2 explains, “It is the glory of God to conceal things and it is the glory of the kings to search it out.”
Many people want to receive from God, but falsely believe the mysteries of God are uncovered without effort. The truth is, hidden mysteries, require a pursuit and it is our glory as God’s children, to search these out. When we will live thirsty for understanding and obedient in our pursuit, God’s glory is revealed.
As adults we know, whatever is hidden is of higher value. Whether it is the marketplace or our living rooms, treasures are not laid out for toddlers or thieves to access. Jewels are stored carefully, valued by their very safekeeping, because treasures are rare and costly to find! Diamonds are mined deep in the earth. Pearls are discovered in the pressured depths of the sea. Emeralds and sapphires are carved out from granite mountains.
Likewise, the hidden mysteries of God are accessed by our thirsty pursuit.
Beloved, in this season, may we access rivers as we dig deeper, thirst greater and value the treasures fervently uncovered. May we celebrate this glorious journey together!
As we become more rooted, secured deeper in understanding, as we seek out that which is hidden, we are certain to uncover the Glory of God.
Father God, Who loves us, delights in being found. The pursuit starts with our thirst.
