In Part 4, we considered how THIRST is essential to our pursuit of God. Today, Part 5 is all about attracting the Anointing! Do you know what it takes to draw the Oil of Heaven to your life? Lean in close, as Prophet Shyju Mathew, Founder of Revive Nations, shares key pearls from David’s life, that you too, may attract Heaven’s gaze by your life!

Dear friend, have you ever wondered why David was chosen for the Oil of Anointing and not his brothers?

Perhaps, you remember the story: Prophet Samuel was sent by God to the house of Jesse in Bethlehem, to anoint one of his sons as king over Israel. The Prophet arrived and informed Jesse, “Sanctify yourselves” and invites the whole family to the sacrifice in Bethlehem.

One by one, Jesse’s seven sons pass before Prophet Samuel. Yet God chose none of them, informing Samuel, “For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

Many people feel that they are thirsty enough for the anointing. But have you come to the place where the Oil of God looks at you and says, “Yes!”?

Eliab, the oldest son, came all readied up, sanctified before the Lord. He had prepared for the Oil. Yet, the Oil was not attracted to him. The second son came and the Oil was still not moved. Then the third son came, yet the Oil refused to leave the flask.

It is not enough that you are attracted to the Oil. The Oil has to come to you, to be attracted to you!

Is your head ready to be anointed by that Oil? Have you prepared your life, where the grace, mercy and favour of God is now attracted to you?

Prophet Samuel watched as seven sons passed by, then asked Jesse, “Are all your sons here?” Jesse explained, “There remains yet the youngest, but behold, he is keeping the sheep.” Samuel informed Jesse, “Send and get him, for we will not sit down till he comes here.” (1 Sam. 16:11)

The Prophet declared, “We refuse to sit until you bring this young man.” The Oil awaited David!

Dear friend, the Oil of Heaven is waiting for a thirsty generation!

There is an Oil that is waiting for you today! There is a call of God that is waiting, but the Oil will not come to where you are; you have to come to where the Oil is!

All of these brothers of David, they had consecrated themselves because they heard about the Oil. But David didn’t have time to consecrate himself – he already lived a consecrated life! Fresh from the field, David came into the room and immediately the grace of God on Samuel, caused him to jump up and say, “Yes this is the one! Anoint him!”

There is a language, a culture, a consecration, an atmosphere of the Oil of God.

When the Oil of God comes upon somebody, they are set apart for an assignment from the Lord. But the fact is, it was not the Oil that first caused David to set apart, it is the fact that he was already set apart unto God, that caused David to now be set apart by the Oil of God.

David, the boy who worshipped God in the fields and valleys, who fought bears and lions with the Power of God, a man-child who lived solitary before the living God, this David, lived set apart to God. He lived ready for the Oil of Heaven!

You can study throughout the Scriptures: when it comes to the Oil, the anointing of God is very special. What makes it special, is that this Oil is not found on everybody and if it is not found on everybody, then it is certain, you cannot be like everybody.

Can the Oil look at your lifestyle and say “This is the one that I was made for!”

Can the Lord declare, “This is the consecrated one. This is set apart one. This is the misunderstood one. This is the one that does things very differently. The way he worships is different. The way she prays is different. The way he gives is different. This is the one whom people don’t understand.”

Some of you don’t understand why the enemy has attacked you from when you were a young child. Some of you don’t understand why you have to go through certain things. It looks like your friends are all happy, but you, you have had a different life, a set apart life. You have lived misunderstood by the world, yet always understood by the Oil Who calls you to a life set apart.

Child of God, the Lord has been qualifying you for that Oil, set apart right from your mother’s womb. As God told Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jer. 1:5)

Take a moment and ask yourself:

How thirsty am I for the things of God?
How desperate am I am for the things of God?

The level of your desperation can be measured by the price you’re willing to pay for a life set apart to God.

If you are desperate and hungry for a Move of God, if you are thirsty for God, if you are drawn to that Oil, then, are you willing to pay any price to prove that desperation?

May you be rooted in the Presence of the Lord, in the Voice of our God! May our consecrated lives attract the Oil today!
