Hearing God Different
The Lord will speak to us in a myriad of ways, if we are willing to listen. Our bones, our senses, even locations can hear the Word of the Lord, often better than we do with our natural ears.
Bones Hear the Word of the Lord
Have you ever wondered why Joseph instructed his family to take his bones when they departed Egypt?(Gen. 50:25) Or how a corpse thrown into Elisha’s cave, stood up resurrected, when he encountered those bones?( 2 Kings 13:21).
Our bones can hear God!
Locations Hear the Word of the Lord
How about specific places and spaces? There are locations which have heard God which then become an access point for others to hear the Lord. Take Bethel, as a great example.
When Jacob feld from his brother, he found himself halfway through to Laban. There in that wilderness, as he lay on the rocks, Jacob dreamt of angels and the Lord spoke to him directly.
Why? This was all about location: Bethel is where Jacob’s grandfather, Abraham, had built an altar, and called upon the Lord, more than once (Gen. 12:8, 13:3,4). When Jacob awoke, he fearfully declared, “Surely, the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not!” (Gen. 28:16)
A location can hear and remember the Lord!
Our Senses can Hear the Word of the Lord
Truly, the Lord will speak to us in a myriad of ways, if we are willing to listen. Even our senses are God given, designed to help us hear the Lord. We cannot limit hearing God by HIs written Word alone!
