Becoming the Ember in the Hands of God

"Experience the Word of God, in the power of the Spirit."

This post is a short excerpt from my upcoming book – Wrecked By God. It will be out shortly and we hope you will be blessed by it. Please do remember us in your prayers as we work to bring this book to completion.

Prophet Isaiah had the great privilege of seeing the Lord on His glorious throne, high and exalted (Isaiah 6). The train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him were seraphs, each with six wings; with two they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet and with two they were flying. And they called out to one another: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty.

The doorposts and threshold shook and the temple was filled with smoke at the sound of their voices. Isaiah was immediately convicted of his unclean lips and insufficient worthiness to stand before God.

Then, one of the seraphims flew toward him with a burning coal in his hand from the altar. And with that lit ember, he touched Isaiah’s lips; taking away all his guilt and bringing atonement for his sins. This act prepared him to go to where God had purposed to send him.

In the innermost parts of God’s plans, there is a secret place in Him that is the furnace of heaven. There in the centre of that flame; no impurities are sustained. Finding yourself there and more importantly, staying in that depth of intimacy with God transforms you to be that burning coal for God.

If you study the past revivalists, you will find one commonality. They were lost in the furnace of heaven. The glorious blazing inferno of heaven is found in deep intimacy with the Holy Spirit. Hours became days and days became weeks as they made heaven’s altar their dwelling place.

They put their heart into feasting from the eternal Word of God until it became fire in their bones. And when they walked into a train, city or a meeting, they carried that fire from the altar of heaven in them, bringing about great convictions in hearts of stone and setting people free from the bondage of sin.

Sharing the gospel without power and saying prayers that fail to avail much are all results of a Christian walk without the fire of God. If you are not first revived then what comes from you will have no revival. Revival must consume you before it consumes the world around you. That is why revival begins with you and in you.

The enemy has always managed to create false fires and passions that keep many entertained. Carrying an adulterated form of power does not fulfil the purposes of God.

For the real revival fire to burn through us, we must remain in the centre of God’s fire. Many try to run man-made revivals wearing the gloves of human experience. These create false revivals that burn out as fast as they start. Therefore, in order for a revival birthed by God to remain sustained, it must be left in His hands along with continual surrender of our human agenda.

The only thing that limits God’s power from flowing through you is incomplete surrender. People’s support, acceptance, opportunities, finances, or even the devil cannot come in the way of a surrendered soul who is in the centre of God’s will.

You cannot give out what you don’t have and you cannot have if you do not receive from Jesus.

Will you become that coal in the hands of God? The coal that would touch people, cities and nations with the fire of God. Your nation needs you! Your generation is being wasted away. Will you be that coal in the hands of God that would carry the overflow of God’s power to revive God’s original plan for humanity?

Now! This is your time to go to the furnace of God.

What do you think are the drawbacks to revival? How can we overcome these things and see revival break out in our cities?
