Day 4: FOCUS ON INTERNAL GROWTH

Psalm 106: 14-15 But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert.

At one point, the Hebrews were taken over by a consistent desire. There is a point where your thirst increases for anything other than Jesus. PUT THAT DESIRE TO DEATH. That is a dangerous desire.

When you want something, you will be overtaken by desire. They put God to the test in the desert, fighting God because of their wanton cravings.

Pray: Holy Spirit help me. Put my heart to rest.

You need to be willing to be part of the journey. Be part of the greater momentum by becoming part of the journey. God wants you to change the way you think and become more a son, like Him.

The maturity of a believer is how much he trusts the Lord.

Pray: Lord prepare my heart. Protect my heart.

The Israelites did not desire something dangerous or sinful. They wanted quail, just a taste of some meat. Yet they had allowed desire to quickly overtake them and could not hold back their words. They forgot their gratitude and any desire that overlooks gratitude is dangerous.

Lack of gratitude for where I am today, even being greedy for more anointing – that is a sin. Paul reminds us, when you intercede, ask all things with thanksgiving because if you ask without thanksgiving, it is a sin (Phil 4).

Friend, wrap your prayers with thanksgiving. Pray with great praise. Do not grumble or complain. God doesn’t need to prove Himself to you.

Pray: Lord, protect me from desires that may consume me.

Any desire that exalts itself above Jesus is wanton. The enemy may use a good desire to spoil your heart. The deceiver lays a very good trap. Remember how he said to Eve, ‘Oh, the day you eat it, you will become like Him’ (Genesis 3). He used a trap of desire and the whole world paid.

May we each remain in gratitude and we mature as His sons and daughters!
