This entry is part 1 of 7 in the series Equilibrium

Dear GTH friends! We’re starting a new and exciting series on soul and spirit Equilibrium! In case you’re wondering what equilibrium means, here’s a definition that might help you to understand better Part 1 of this series: “Equilibrium is a state of rest or balance due to the equal action of opposing forces” (dictionary.com).

Did you know that every Christian has a body, a spirit and a soul?

In order to grow with God, you must have equilibrium within. Your spirit must lead your soul.  Your soul must lead your body. In this alignment, believers operate in dominion as a Child of God.

But most of us struggle to maintain our spiritual equilibrium.

For anyone who has ever suffered from vertigo, when the body’s inner ear balance is off kilter, nausea and disorientation is usually the result. Many lose their balance in this rough state.

Similarly, when your soul overrides your spirit, equilibrium is disturbed within.  The soul becomes defensive, carnal, controlling, and our pursuit for God is hindered.

The soul cannot hear the Voice of God but is emotion driven and mind-driven, even flesh-driven. When our soul is carnally led, our spirit, which is made by God to lead us in fellowship with Him, is quenched. (See Galatians 5:17).
Unredeemed, the soul can become a prison that holds back our maturity and growth in God.

The good news is, we can each bring our soul to a place of rest in God!

True Equilibrium of spirit and soul comes when your soul is at rest and your spirit, which communicates with the Spirit of God, leads you forward. (Gal 5:16)

Enjoy the journey and keep moving up in God!
